Ronald C. Lewis, MD, FACS, is a board-certified general surgeon with NGPG Surgical Associates (Gainesville). He maintains a focused practice in abdominal wall hernia surgery, treating routine and complex inguinal, ventral, and incisional hernias. This specialized approach supports standardized care pathways, consistent technique, and strong outcomes across a wide range of patients. Dr. Lewis is recognized by the Surgical Review Corporation (SRC) as a Surgeon of Excellence in Hernia and Robotic Surgery.
Dr. Lewis is a founding member of the Hernia Center at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Georgia’s first accredited Hernia Surgery Center of Excellence. The Hernia Center offers patients access to advanced robotic and minimally invasive techniques designed to support a smoother recovery and provide durable results.
A native of Atlanta, Dr. Lewis began his surgical practice in Gainesville in 2001 and joined Northeast Georgia Physicians Group (NGPG) in 2010. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Surgery and an active participant in the Americas Hernia Society Quality Collaborative (AHSQC), advancing quality and outcomes in hernia care.
Dr. Lewis pursued his education at the University of Georgia and earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia. He completed his residency at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona.
Throughout his tenure, Dr. Lewis has served in multiple leadership roles, including NGMC Chief of Staff (2013–2014). He currently serves as Medical Director of Perioperative Services for Northeast Georgia Health System (NGHS).

I am very impressed that Northeast Georgia Physicians Group has a surgeon of Dr. Lewis's abilities and experience. His staff was a pleasure to work with. It's clear to me that they have a culture within that work group that works quite well. The working relationships between staff members seem to be quite beneficial for them and the patients. Based on my experience, this indicates the persons who are in charge of the this particular surgical group take their leadership roles seriously.
