Matthew Janko, MD

Matthew Janko, MD, RPVI, is a cardiothoracic surgeon with Northeast Georgia Physicians Group Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery. His main clinical interests include coronary artery surgery, aortic surgery, and lung cancer surgery. For appropriate patients, he offers minimally invasive options, including robotic surgery through keyhole-size incisions.

Dr. Janko has conducted and published extensive research on cardiothoracic surgery outcomes. He and co-investigators collected data from around the world to publish the largest-ever report on the challenging topic of aortic graft infection. He has also participated in research on minimally invasive keyhole surgery and outcomes.

Dr. Janko earned his medical degree from the University of Massachusetts Medical School and completed an internship in General Surgery through Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. He completed an Integrated 0+5 Residency in Vascular Surgery and Endovascular Therapy at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio, and a Traditional 5+2 Fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery at Case Western.
